Soot Levels in Diesel Engine Oils, Laboratory Meter
The Soot Meter is a direct reading infrared analyzer for the rapid
measurement of soot content in diesel engine oils. It measures the amount of
suspended soot in diesel engine lubricating oils from infrared absorption at
a fixed wavelength. Measurement results are comparable to widely used and
accepted TGA and FTIR analysis techniques. Samples may be applied from the
end of a dip-stick or from a simple eye dropper directly onto the
scratch-resistant cubic zirconia measurement surface which is also impervious
to acids. After testing, the surface is cleaned by simply wiping it with a
cloth or paper towel. There are no cells to clean and no solvents required
for the cleaning process. The unit is lightweight, contains no moving parts
and uses a 12V power supply making the Soot Meter a versatile unit for the
testing laboratory as well as in the field. Includes dust cover, power supply
and set of four reference oils.
Also available are a portable meter for soot analysis (K25525)
and analyzers for measuring total oil and grease (TOG) and total petroleum
hydrocarbons (TPH) in water and soil samples. Please contact our Customer
Service Department for more details.
